What types of leather do you use?
First, let’s explain Chrome versus Vegetable (‘veg’) tanned leather: Leather that is “chrome tanned” is processed faster with the use of chemicals when turning cowhide into leather. “Vegetable tanned” (aka ‘veg tan’) uses natural materials like tree bark in the tanning process. Both processes are regulated to protect the environment.
Lightweight, extremely durable with a unique handmade texture that is versatile in style.
Sourced from France and Japan. The goatskin from Japan is custom made for Yonezawa Leather - no other leather goods company in the world has these beautiful skins. It is of course Yone’s favorite leather to work with.
High in quality, beautiful with a soft, exquisite feel. Lighter in weight, finer in fiber, and doesn’t blemish or scar as easily compared to cow skin.
Sourced from two tanneries: Weinheimer Leder (Poland) and Yamagami Leather (Japan).
Rich aesthetic, smells good, durable, and fades naturally with use as it takes on the life of the owner.
Sourced from Italy.
Available: Python, Crocodile, and Gator.
These types of leather require specialized techniques to integrate and construct into pieces and are much more expensive than cow, calf and goat.
Contact email@example.com to discuss the use of exotic skins.
